Yes, it's quite an *odd* novelisation of a court-based daytime TV programme...

Did you know the story originated in a Crown Court novelisation? James Follett got commissioned to write a CC novel, and it ends with a seige at the court. The SAS are called in to rescue the hostages in a very Embassy-style way. That was the kernel of the idea that became WDW.

So glad you liked this, it's one of the great cold war/nuke classics. The fact it was buried by Strangelove is an absolute crime - those performances deserved a much larger audience.
Are you thinking of doing another Lumet classic - The Hill?

I thought that weddings in TV shows were legally binding and the actors were now married to each other in real life.

As a Customs Officer in the 1990s, we found this book hilarious. This page in particular was emailed around a lot.

Eventually I got my own copy of the book.

I saw those two too! Despite being a huge Bottom fan (ahem) The Parole Officer is a much better film. Despite the illjudged rollercoaster scene.

I saw Staggered on the same day as Four Weddings. I remember thinking I enjoyed Staggered more.

Probably explains why I went to the effort of finding it on DVD, and I still don't own FW&AF.

PSB wrote something on this topic when they announced their tour last week: www.patreon.com/posts/102389...

I'm glad they're so transparent about the choices they have to make, but sad that this is where we are.
