This is why the HoL is important. It's their professionalism, which we would really struggle to maintain with people chasing voters (which, let's face it attracts the worst sort of politician).

Literally watching a live masterclass in the USA in how government and running a company are not the same. Only Fuhrage wouldn't learn the lesson b/c he knows it plays well to the more unthinking elements of his fanbase.

Which begs the question: What on earth were the people of Warwickshire voting for? If I stood for election, saying, I don't really want the job but do please vote for me! I would hope I wouldn't be voted in. Madness!

There's no way he can be fully shielded from what people think. The establishment will diplomatically play it down - he is, after all, a head of state - but the press and the world will know what the Brits feel. Pity the likes of HRH, who'll have to be civil to the climate change denier.
