He/him. Husband, father, citizen. Mostly messing around here. Not loving the Era of Artificial Reality despite enjoying escapist activities. There’s a difference.
They have ZERO incentive to tell users they’re just using a really good auto complete.
February 16, 2026 at 3:15 PM
Which makes perfect sense if the goal is to fool users into increase engagement with the model. The goal is making you feel attached to them and that it’s a magical being. Not an auto complete that’s really really effing good at it.

The other day I heard something amazing to me. At least some LLMs don’t actually remember you *at all*. They just have all the prompt info stored and you’re sending an updated longer and longer prompt to them as you’re in a “conversation” with it. You don’t see that though.
February 16, 2026 at 3:13 PM
So let’s see….

How long until Grandpa threatens Greenland again?

3 days maybe?

They gotta get Fox to make some Trump-praising specials to distract him. It’ll make all of our lives better I think.

Who wouldn’t trust their money and transactions to a site known for porn generation and racism.

Who?????

Anyone who must all be <insert Musk insulting them in vile and disgusting ways>.
February 16, 2026 at 12:45 PM
Needs one of those “I did that!” stickers with Reagan. And the rest of the Republicans after him.
February 16, 2026 at 2:13 AM
Well, Republicans pick Republicans for obvious reasons.

Democrats pick- usually - moderate Rs because ostensibly the person who leads the FBI is simply…enforcing laws and often, LE lean R even before recent times.

Ds want to appear to govern everyone and picking a competent R appeals to them.

My problem is around materials and energy even assuming you can truly tackle design and ai.

The green transition often runs into material and electrical grid/generation issues.

If we’re talking millions of robots- all need batteries and energy and to be built and maintained…

I get very dubious.
February 15, 2026 at 7:28 PM
First you have to believe him.

Like how many people really believe he’s gonna make an army of robots?

Besides fanbois and people pumping his stock and the investors dreaming of MOAR MONEY.

I think a majority of folks know he’s full of crap.

The more power you have the easier it is to behave corruptly too. Just a tiny little nibble. Everyone does it! We’re all on the same team.

Have a dinner. A trip. A stay at my cabin. I promise this data center I’m opening will help the population get good jobs. Just need that tax break.
February 15, 2026 at 4:06 PM
To be competitive and caught up when they can never be because someone’s always pushing the perceived envelope.

But it’s all still trying to extract money and power from a world that’s meanwhile stuck in physical limitations. Which are hard limits.

A conundrum and contradiction.
February 15, 2026 at 4:01 PM
A person will trend toward like people who will reinforce each other’s behaviors. Until or unless they are forced by circumstance to do something different.

Tech is an infinite pool of demand on our time and resources.

These people are just building loops because they perceive infinite need….
February 15, 2026 at 4:00 PM
It’s depressing that these are the options as we hope to somehow stop the Trump agenda and look forward to a long period of rebuilding government and its functions and the stupid Senate designed to moderate and cool things down is a major obstacle thanks to *everything*.

Ancient lady/poss Nazi
February 15, 2026 at 3:39 PM
Come on, Janet Mills is only

*looks up age*

Wrf it’s a 6 year term starting next year, people!

And it’s “good news” she’s the front runner because if nothing else I feel sure she’s not in any way a Nazi.

She just has to be fully capable of being a US Senator until she’s 85.
February 15, 2026 at 3:34 PM
I do not trust anyone who has a vested interest in AI succeeding to be an honest reporter.

We as a culture and society have decimated institutions that would hold power to account. Access journalism makes reporters reluctant at best to do so.

“Magic thing does magic” - oldest con there is.

Commander Worf! Brush harder!
February 15, 2026 at 1:15 AM
Man, that would have been a great episode.
February 15, 2026 at 1:14 AM
Nazis all wear those special hats, duh.

No hat, no Nazi.

I mean that must be it, I guess.

Oh wait
February 15, 2026 at 1:09 AM
Next time someone says we should let Nosferatu manage our immigration policy we should put them in the retirement home where they belong because they’re too far gone to be in charge.
February 14, 2026 at 4:28 PM
Eff every single politician and Supreme Court Justice that has pushed this along to where we are now.

They do not deserve our esteem or admiration. They are pathetic, just seeking easy tax revenue without actually raising taxes for everyone. Justifying it by saying addicts did it to themselves.
February 14, 2026 at 4:24 PM
We went from hustle culture to YOLO, eff it, I’m all in culture.

And the people “in charge” love it because they’re riding the crest of the wave, leaving bag holders in their wake. Extracting huge amounts of cash from desperation.
February 14, 2026 at 4:21 PM
I might have said “psychically incapable” because it’s technically probably more correct. I’m feeling pendantic this morning.

Also strawman arguments get really tiresome once you get to a certain point in life. lol.
February 14, 2026 at 1:43 PM
No, maybe we need to give fossil fuel companies one more chance to prove they have an ounce of morality left and aren’t just focused on making themselves as wealthy as possible, the planet and people be damned (other than making sure we always have to pay them money to live our lives/get energy).
February 14, 2026 at 1:27 PM
Each of those hundred million “people” being an unpaid employee bringing revenue from paying customers.

Cha-Ching!

- wait did I say that out loud
February 14, 2026 at 12:58 AM
*rate inflation

Averaging out even with cars being more expensive you’d expect somewhat fewer accidents as the % of young drivers falls.
