From 1 Sept. 1939-late Aug. 1941, the Nazi regime murdered 70,273 people with intellectual & developmental disabilities. The legal order, T4, was stopped only through deliberate, open defiance of reporting as required by law from midwives, nurses, docs, & mothers.

To accompany it: Liana de la Rosa’s The Luna Sisters series. The first book is Ana María and the Fox. She escapes to England and falls for a Parliamentary representative whose grandmother escaped slavery from Louisiana.

Then there’s Elphaba.
🐈‍⬛ Elphie was found in a barn. She’s 13, so she recently celebrated her cat mitzvah. She’s very smol at just under 7 lbs. But she makes up for it in her personality, which is mostly profanity and threats to our puny human bodies, said in the sweetest voice possible. #BlackCats

These are my children.
🐕‍🦺 Oliver is an almost-8-year-old Black Lab. He’s a service dog “failure” because he doesn’t have ‘intelligent disobedience,’—he would walk into traffic if you told him to (not a great quality in a guide dog for visual impairments, which is what he was trained for.)

I just finished Ana María and the Fox, which takes place in England, but with one character who has escaped 2nd Revolution Mexico and one whose grandmother escaped enslavement in Louisiana TO England. Plus, the cover art is beautiful.
