Two warbands for different games, both turquoise, both assholes!

Relictors: drybrushed grey armour, drybrushed osl

Admech: drybrushed all metalwork

WiP Iron Warriors: drybrushed up armour before and after weathering

How does anyone paint an army without drybrushing?!

Minotaurs: drybrushed up from a brown primer, oil wash, then more drybrushing.

Salamamders: drybrushed up from a green primer, oil washed, then more drybrushing

Thousand Sons: all trim drybrushed up from gold primer, then contrast for panels

I'd also recommend using the necromunda tile set and cutting it down to base size.

I tied them into the boarding action bases by using the spare bits as grating or edges to the tiles.

Back to the Thousand Sons for some damp swampy basing!

I'm thinking a light brown wasteland with yellow/brown pigments on the dark boots.

Paler base to show off the dark chorfs and yellowed tone to contrast the purple chaos energies.

I'm also not a big fan of the giant mecha bull so my force will be prodding a dragon into enemies! (mockup)

I'm also currently working on some, though a bit more subdued!

First squad finished on a new project, coming back to the mortal realms with Helsmiths!

The scheme was inspired by 30k Word Bearers in their original grey, which also lets me paint most of it with drybrushing for speed.

Full 90's look. Black and flames with chrome detailing

They used to make models for 'Epic', which was a smaller scale wargame (6mm vs 32mm for 40k) like the current Legiones Imperialis game.

They have never made a full 40k scale model, the biggest of those is the Warlord Titan which you'd probably have seen at WhW.

Pic is the old Epic titans

Annoyingly I can't find a higher quality version of this, but it is solid for picturing the scale differences

They are big big machines!

Hairfoot Jousters from North Star figures

It's been a long time since I painted some hand sculpted metal models and you forget how much character they have

I tried sticking to bright colours and only using highlights to keep that fun vibe, no washes to dampen the tones

One thing I stumbled across earlier that may be of interest to you...

I normally default to my 30k salamanders for green, so let's mix it up with a Slaves to Darkness Warcry band!

It was from the old Forgeworld Solar Auxilia Tactical Command. I think I used them some time ago for counts-as Scions but this has been kicking round in my bits box for years - always good to have some random techy gubbins!

There is just a timelessness about the land raider design that makes them always fun (probably why I have 5...)

I assume this will be joining your classic firstborn Fists?

Totally agree with an interesting concept for a niche role, executed in a way I didn't like aesthetically.

I converted up one for my admech with the idea of a sniper who relocates from vantage points with a jump pack. I went fairly basic so I'm really keen to see what you come up with!

I looked up the same thing as I kind of wanted my entire force to be walking.

The best option IMO is the Mortian medium crawler. Body is the same profile and a bit slimmer, but the legs stick out a little for size/gameplay purposes.

@violetmenace.bsky.social you are looking for the Onager Dunecrawler. Admechs original, and far superior IMO, tank before the Scorpius was released

If you see this, QTP with a trio of awesomeness!

The Cospuscarii and high Magos Dominus are carried into battle by an ancient retrofitted Dunerider (shhhh it's about the same size).
Stomping behind them is the heavy firepower of three Onager Duncrawlers, in turn flanked by two Armigers of the Moirax and Helverin patterns.

The bulk of the forces deploy on foot, with massed ranks of Skitarii. These are backed up by the elite Corpuscarii bodyguards, and the heavy armour of Kataphron war constructs
September 1, 2025 at 8:51 PM
The Forge is led by three members of the priesthood, two Dominus and a Manipulus.

They are supported in turn by a range of lesser adepts: a Skitarii Marshal and Sydonian Skatros, two Engineseers, Technoarchaeologist, and an Underseer leading it's coterie of Servitors
September 1, 2025 at 8:45 PM
The combined might of the forge world of Locus in the Motem system.
(I'll think up a better name at some point)

A long time collection that finally came together recently when I forced myself through the pain of basing ~100 models at once!
