Because again, I ask at the end of the day, do companies really care if they get 1 less sale? No, that's pittens to them. And a Twitter boycott is pittens, You need a properly organized movement, not Twitter boycotting.

This is true but there are other ways that you can pressure videogame companies into leaving behind Anti consumer practices or developer crunch, supporting dev unions, shit like that, doing that in comparison to refraining to buy a product personally is much more meaningful.

Yeah, I mean, just because I have a Roblox account doesn’t mean I endorse that the company is protecting predators and stopping people who are aiding in putting those predators behind bars. #freeschlep

That's all I had to say on the matter. I don't think buying a product means you're endorsing the company behind it, and on that same token being part of an online boycott does not make you morally superior to anybody else.

If you want to change these things, you should do proper organization, not being a keyboard warrior and attacking people who bought a Nintendo console.

It's the same mindset that leads people to try to do stupid shit, like try to reduce their personal carbon emissions to the atmosphere rather than try to solve the issue systemically, and that's my problem with online boycotts and voting with your wallet, it's a very personal responsibility framing
October 19, 2025 at 10:42 AM
Again this isn't to say it's never worth organizing ever, I do think it is worth organizing, but I feel like the idea of voting with your wallet, of boycotting, is coded in "personal responsibility", it's a very neo liberal mindset, I feel.
October 19, 2025 at 10:42 AM
if anything by doing this last thing I mentioned, you're giving propaganda to the company, even if bad propaganda, but some bad actors might see what you're saying and be convinced to buy the product.
October 19, 2025 at 10:42 AM
When you're doing a Twitter boycott, you're part of a niche group of people, you're in an echo chamber, if you want those sorts of boycotts to succeed you should do them in more meaningful, organized ways. Don't be a Keyboard warrior and attack people who bought the product.

I feel like especially nowadays everyone should be more than aware that stuff like twitter boycotts, especially when it comes to products by massive companies, does not work, this isn't to say that you shouldn't organize at all to make things better but what I'm saying is that

Just like I said on twitter, don't just assume this is true from the headline, I read the actual article, this is article and headline are purely based on the first paragraph of the EULA, unless SEGA makes a statement clarifying everything, we still don't know to what extent this is

Oh wait it is real? I thought they just used this worldwide
October 13, 2025 at 10:04 AM
Is this official? I'd assume it'd be like a regional thing were this is the cover for the physical version of plus in japan, but tbh SEGA are probably too lazy to do something as cool as that
