I can’t recall exactly which native milkweed we planted a couple years back (from Theodore Payne Nursery), but it keeps coming back. I think it’s Narrowleaf Milkweed.

I can’t recall exactly which native milkweed we planted a couple years back (from Theodore Payne Nursery), but it keeps coming back. I think it’s Narrowleaf Milkweed.

I see news that many of the firefighting crews that came in to help from other cities, counties, states, and countries are heading home.
Whatever good you believe in, whatever source of life and hope, send up a prayer of thanks for those people.

I don’t know what the news is telling friends and family back east, but I am happy and relieved to report the Palisades, Eaton, and Hughes fires, while active, are all over 95% contained.
I imagine the rains over the weekend helped. Certainly, we needed them… #lafires 1/

Looking for the bright side:
The insane Santa Ana winds have calmed down somewhat in our area, although humidity is still low - 9%. I was able to rehang and fill the birdbath for the first time in days, and a bird immediately jumped in to take a bath and stayed to lounge in the water for a bit.
