I don't think it's a good idea to use "left-wing" or "right-wing" as categories to classify terrorism.
These terms stem from parliamentary politics & blur more than they reveal. More precise labels should be applied -- which would also lead to more meaningful comparative values.

We introduce the concept of “indexing by proxy” — by which we draw on the classic observation that professional norms lead journalists to implicitly filter or ‘index’ the sources and viewpoints in the news according to perceived power balances among factions within political institutions.

We introduce the concept of “indexing by proxy” — by which we draw on the classic observation that professional norms lead journalists to implicitly filter or ‘index’ the sources and viewpoints in the news according to perceived power balances among factions within political institutions.
When we analyzed news coverage, we found the main driver to be intra-party divisions within the center-right CDU, where candidates were vying for party leadership.
While the UN compact & far-right agitation against it certainly warranted coverage, the issue became disproportionately amplified.
