Thank you! There are 25+ plants but only cats on 3, not sure why. This is the 1st year I’ve had time to watch - I learned a lot. I had to relocate this beastie after she ate an i3 yesterday.

It’s probably a healthy change to be distressed by something I have some control over.

This Eastern Pondhawk (Erythemis simplicollis) is the third species of dragonfly I've spotted in the garden this year. Dragonflies hunt mosquitoes, and hornets and wasps (which hunt immature Monarchs). I have a wishlist of plants to attract more dragonflies, and I'm going to need a better fountain.

An object at rest tends to stay at rest unless acted upon by an outside force… to get started you need to become the outside force which starts the mental and physical ball rolling. You need to overcome the inertia of inaction and indecision and begin developing some creative momentum. -Adam Savage

There’s an interminable period each day when Europe has gone to bed, Australia is just waking up, and the Americas are still at work or heading home and making dinner, when posts in my Following feed slow to a trickle, and I enter the long dark teatime of the soul.

I’ve solved the mystery of the missing Monarch caterpillars. European wasps and hornets prey on Monarch eggs and caterpillars, so I’ve created a buffet for them. I need to add plants that repel the invaders: mint, lavender, citronella, lemongrass, pennyroyal, basil, thyme, eucalyptus, marigold.

I planted a row of peppermint lace crape myrtles a few years ago, but one is not like the others.

This year the blossoms are so numerous and heavy that branches are breaking.
