But having that acceptance NOW is what pushes me to try and thrive where my strengths are. It’s easy to have regrets and spiral, but it’s not all over. I just hope more ND peeps can have that opportunity earlier in life.

Fair, it’s not the same industry it once was. More hands, more failure points and QA needed. I’m glad we don’t have to deal with newly produced revisions to fix games anymore.

I had all the signs that I was struggling in school. I did everything last minute and failed anything I had no interest in, regularly forgetting things. My Mom refused to believe I was different; I was so well behaved at home! I get angry thinking about how much better my life could have turned out.

You can’t tell me that the majority of games shipped in the state they do now tho, but you do have a point for those that shipped with game breaking bugs back then.
My point is that modern physical media isn’t as useful for preservation as it once was, but even then, emulation is the real answer.

And 99% of the time if you opt to buy a disc instead, the game on the disc is going to be buggy or missing features because of day 1 updates, so the only benefit is just being able to resell it in the short term cause that disc is eventually going to be useless.

On top of that, you can buy a used PSP or 3DS (Vita is a bit pricier) for sometimes less than 100$ and with the ease of CFW you got a lot of games and emulators to tinker with. In my experience most Gen Z aren’t collecting carts and discs, and I don’t blame them.

The DS was my go to for RPGs of that era, but a modded PSP with tons of emulators was so fucking cool back then. I should honestly get a new battery for mine.

Omg yeah. My uncle installing Nesticle and ZSnes on our PC when I was 6 or 7 is far more vivid than the time I had with the few hand me down games I got.
