I am literally so good at writing descriptions you have no idea
I also thought I'd give a little update on the amount of scripts I currently have in the game, which seems like it's going to increase exponentially by the time the final game is done hahaha. 3 scripts for general stuff, 5 scripts for the coffee minigame. It's all going well though! #SmallGameStudio

Thought I'd give a little progress update on my game "Things That Could Go Wrong"

Currently, I have scene transitions working, although they kind of look basic. I'm also almost done with my Coffee minigame! Just need to finish the second loss state + win state. Screenshots below. #SmallGameStudio

My second monster has been made. Here's the "protagonist" of my reverse dating sim, who lacks any semblance of a personality or defining character traits!

I can't tell if the MS paint is gonna make this experience worse, or better, but I guess we'll find out

OH NO I FORGOT TO DO MY BLUESKY POSTS.

Uhhh so basically I'm working on my "Get Dated!" idea that I had, but I'm working on it for 176 instead of 175. Regardless, since it's still the process of making a game, I thought I'd post my (masterwork) MS paint character drawing.

Just in case anyone is planning to play Circle Chase - Burnout Edition after reading this post, @bpsmith.bsky.social had the right idea for the purpose of the game, which I was happy to see! Try and beat my score of 30, everyone 😉

Here are my three pitches for my final game project for #SmallGameStudio! Personally, I'm most inclined towards "Get Dated!", but maybe everyone else will think differently. Hopefully I haven't set out too much work for myself hahahaha

Melt demonstrates that you don't need much in terms of gameplay or concept to demonstrate an idea or feeling. The music and glowy colors get everything across that wants to be expressed.

Diving Bell was a really interesting way of displaying poetry in a game format that I had not considered before! As someone who writes poetry, I was sort of struggling to see how I could potentially mix that interest with game design, but now I have some ideas for the next project!

Noooooo! Stop leaving me!!!

Loneliness by Jordan Magnuson really sets out to do one thing, and it does it really well. The moment of having the first group of black squares run away from your player character is really impactful without even doing much.

Figured out how to make the game resolution work properly in the WebGL version of Unity, which allowed me to fix my previous Unity game to work in fullscreen. Good to know! #SmallGameStudio

Although I am dubious about generative AI, I can't help but feel giddy about AI Dungeon. Having a rapid D&D-like experience is truly, and the fact that it is able to adapt to user inputs is really fun. Hopefully their software doesn't have questionable aspects that other GenAI has. #SmallGameStudio

Of all of the clicker games I've played, Barnacle Goose has by far the most interesting actual items that you collect in the process of its run time. I don't have much more time to play it right now, but I'm definitely curious about what this all means!

Having trouble with Unity and scripts on the computer I'm currently using. For some reason, the program (dll) that allows Unity to compile C# code is somehow blocked or already open, which causes Unity to be unable to compile my scripts. No idea what to do about this, help! #SmallGameStudio

Stealing what some of my other classmates have done for their #SmallGameStudio posts for this week, and looking at the analytics for my game Trees, Trees, Trees that I uploaded last on Itch for Project 1. Nothing too interesting, though I was surprised to see a view from "gamekb.com"

Despite my better judgement telling me to use literally any other text editor for the purposes of writing code, I will be attempting to use Notepad++ for coding purposes for now. I just love their little mascot too much! This is probably gonna make some of my friends mad though, lol

Decided to add more trees in order to match the name of the game! I think it turned out really pretty, actually. Not much else in the game per se, but I think this gave me some pretty good basics for using Unity that I can improve on for future projects :)

My most complicated original model thus far! A.... fork....

Somehow despite how tedious this is and despite the fact that I recognize it really could look better, modeling my own stuff for Project 1 has been really interesting! Maybe I'll keep doing it in the future? #SmallGameStudio

Figured out how to fix my shadow problem via both rotating the directional light AND changing the shadow distance in the project settings under the quality tab. Shadows seem to be visible from any distance now! Hopefully that doesn't make the project too big when I build it hahaha

Having a lot of trouble with shadows; I'm trying to make my game objects really big, but when the camera pans away too far from the shadows, they disappear. Really frustrating, honestly, and I don't know if I'm going to be able to figure it out before the assignment is due haha

I was able to bring the model I made into Unity! What's actually really interesting is that, in the software I was using (Tinkercad), even though I grouped the objects, giving them different colors actually caused them to be in separate groups in the prefab in Unity itself.

Pulling out a 3D modeling software I used back in middle school to try and model and extremely simple and silly tree! I have no idea if I'm even going to be able to use this in Unity, but I really just wanted to make my own 3D model for some reason 😅
