Baker. Mom. IR Theory Nerd.

Opinions and hot takes are all my own.
Ugh this was the bane of our existence during the 3 years we lived in Helsinki. Exactly 1 coffee shop near us was open AT ALL on a Sunday morning and it didn’t open till 9. One of my favorites in the city never opened before 10 am. Like. Whyyyyyyy

Solidarity! I have 2 weeks where my kids are at a camp that was advertised as “3-10 year olds” but upon sign up asked for grade levels so my rising 6th grader who is young for her grade is gonna be a rising 5th grader those weeks because I could not find anything else with spots left for both kids.

Ugh props for navigating the camp gauntlet. My kids are 7 years apart so finding a camp that takes a 3 year old and a 10 year old took some serious work and OF COURSE three days after we got them registered said 10 year old announced she wanted to do theater camp. Which of course is waitlist only.

Cackled out loud at your live skeet from yesterday. Well watch the last one tonight and I am pumped. It’s just so silly and pretty.

Have never found anything like it anywhere we’ve traveled. Santa Fe also has the Georgia O’Keefe museum and that is another personal favorite. And Cafe Pasqual’s if it’s still there is great. The communal table is fun and the food is excellent (or at least it was).

Also if you go to Santa Fe, you MUST stop at Whoo’s Donuts and get a Lavender Blueberry Blue Corn Donut because it has been 12 years since I was there and I still dream about that donut.

I got to see the Array in 2013 and it is so so cool. Not really doable in the same day but if they still open the Trinity site 2x a year that’s a very cool day trip in NM as well. And White Sands Nat’l Monument! Gosh NM is just incredible.

Seeing them standing in metro stations while my kids and I scale 6 foot snowbanks (coated in ice!) to cross DC streets makes my blood boil. Isn’t that something they can help with? WHY ARE THEY NOT HELPING? [She screams into the void, knowing full well that the answer is because it’s all a farce]

Yesssss just bought mine. Everything is terrible but these are going to be fun to send to my friends.

Helsinki city does this too! It’s kind of magical to be in a place with 6 feet of snow in huge banks one day and the next to see the street pristine. We stumbled upon one of the snow removal spots once and my kids were in heaven. 10-12 foot tall snow banks as far as the eye could see.

Ugh hate that you’ve needed enough medical care this year to hit it so early. Last year we got smacked with med stuff in January too and I think we hit ours January 10 (we were overseas so we paid out of pocket for everything and got reimbursed which is partly how we hit it so quick but also yikes).

French onion soup and French onion soup buns (Japanese milk bread dough with caramelized onions and Gruyère rolled up inside). Making kitchen sink cookies later with my kids to use up all the rest of the holiday candy in the house.

Woke up yesterday with a weird migraine-like headache (not consistent auras, but the nausea and tension I always get with a migraine) and I could not figure it out until I saw the weather report. Duhh. 🤦🏼‍♀️

I hope you weather the storm ok!

Oooooo those are amazing.

Ughhhh my scale just died and in its final week of life (with a fresh battery to boot!) the measurements were increasingly off, eventually by about 150 grams. It was infuriating and I kept thinking I was losing my mind.

We do Sydney with our kids! It’s the best. Both great fireworks but it’s also done wayyyy before any US time zone so it’s perfect.

I bet you could do it. Cornbread absolutely will be fine with brown sugar. For cheesecake you might need to beat it a little longer to get the sugar to melt but I think it’ll be ok. Sending you positive vibes!

My girls (10 and 3) would both LOVE this. Oldest would love being able to create scenes and write notes with pretty paper and stickers etc. Youngest would simply cover every single surface within reach with stickers, especially puffy ones. This is a wonderfully thoughtful gift.

Loving the his and hers bathtubs in the mudroom. Maybe it’s a spa?

Not even an egg wash on those “rolls”? This is a tragic spread.

Absolutely. I can not use ChatGPT all day and still find things to not use ChatGPT for.

FWIW, I also didn’t get married in a Mormon temple but somehow I still got the recipe. I think it was deemed allowable because my husband isn’t Mormon (whereas my SIL was)? Unclear.

Mostly because my brother was so pissed at my mom he just refused to ever ask again. So now we have a family schism: those who make toffee and those who don’t.
