Sometimes I get lost in thought thinking about my Hellsguard Roegadyn's personal lore and detach it from game action purist.
Drew comparisons to my own family's revolutionary history and the overall Horrors of War to traumatize my bean

Gently bringing in real timelines into play and saying we're about 15 years into the 7th Era cause fuck you no way it's been barely a year for everything that's happened
Changing Eyri's backstory *a bit* so that her family wasn't *entirely* killed by garleans and she's less of a child when she winds up in ul'dah, making her more contemporary with Raubahn
She was 13 when King Theodoric was crowned, living in the Fringes north of the Temple of the Fist, where her father was an acolyte and her mother was a medicine woman.

*Deeply* radicalized by the murder of her father, she starts wandering across the more remote areas as part of her "training to take her mother's place", in reality training in combat with disparate resistance groups as the revolution against the King of Ruin builds.

This is where her aptitude for potions turns from "I learned from my mom" to her own passion. Finding grasses, leaves, fats, all the like she starts to craft rudimentary combat drugs for her comrades, anesthetics for pain, poisons to cover weapons in. She goes back to her mother for fundamentals and building her baseline skills, but she always thinks it's hidden from the woman.... but she knew, of course.

She thinks she saw him jump from the castle when she was part of the vanguard of shieldbearers storming the capitol, but also thinks it's just a "happy" delusion in the heat of everything.

Then... it's over! The king is dead, and we can rebuild. Things are *bad*. He wrecked the economy and the spirit of the nation. Eyri starts to think about ways to use the various natural resources to craft Abanian-centric wares... potions, tools, weapons.... things that need the various natural and historical concepts particular to the region. Every fighter she knows isn't just a soldier. They're burgeoning politicians, stonemasons, leatherworkers, smiths, medicine crafters like herself! Why can't they rebuild brick by brick?

But then the Garleans come. And they have to flee. She starts evactuating, using her size to protect whoever she can, dragging people out of burning buildings.
Which is where she finds her mother's torso.
Burnt to a crisp from the waist down, a child cowering in the corner clearly having been pushed out of the way by her... an accident. Maybe even a mis-aimed shot. But she can't think about any of that. All she can think about is throwing the girl over her shoulder and running. As far and as fast as she can.

She manages to find a group of highlanders heading to inner aldenaard, leaves the girl with them, and finds some of her old resistance groups trying to figure out SOMETHING to do against the Garleans, but they're all despondent. They try but all she knows are craftspeople who desperately want to just work and not fight, especially after the rebellion already took so much.
She never thinks to go back where her father was killed all those years ago.

And then they flee. Certainly a group of tradespeople can find *something* in Ul'dah, right? Gridania is a lost cause.

They still have bad blood over the War of the Roses and racism issues to boot.

How could she expect to wind up bruised and bloodied every day in the coliseum? That shed be looked at not for her mind and passion but for her size and musculature? Always wondering where her next meal will come from
Picking weeds and hunting animals for reagents to not only try to heal and recover, but maybe make a coin or two ...

From there everything's effectively the same, just bump up years a bunch so her "parents" were in their 60s when they "adopted" this starving traumatized 30 year old with a passion to *please dear God let me use my brain I don't want to use a sword anymore*

There's a bit of plurality in there too. She doesn't realize her black-out blood rages are actually Wandering Gem stepping out to make sure she's alive, protecting what she loves and the ability to keep it all moving...
But overall yeah. Started training as an arcanist under them, kept up ties with Ul'dah where she made many friends and also the alchemists guild. The fucking Calamity happened.

Changed her name to Eyrigeim out of respect for the people who got her off the street and also because she kept dealing with minor bouts of racism ("ah, one of the coliseum brutes trying to play potionmaker?")

Found out about the burgeoning Summoner Corps in Ul'dah, still filled with that urge to protect driving her towards gaining more combat skill, and managed to pull some strings (including a shot in the dark letter to raubahn stating their shared experiences and from Thubyrgeim of the arcanists guild) to get her in touch with Y'mihtra and Dancing Wolf.
While working with them Y'mihtra figured she made a better scholar than caster (fair) and so she was sent to Mor Dhona to work with the Sons there.
Met a pretty Xaela researcher, fell in love, watched her die (EXTREMELY BRIEF SUMMARY OF WHY SHE TOOK THE SURNAME "TRACHYNBRYDA", she called the xaela "my little dragon" and trachynbryda means "The Dragons bride" in old Roegadyn)
Wandering Gem fronted for like a year and change, went dark knight. Eyrigeim woke up one day seeing how much time had passed and how covered in blood she was and freaked out, panicked.
That was like 8 years ago. She's chilled by now, becoming increasingly successful as a potionseller by the day

All that is to say if you see Eyri fighting she is NOT okay!!!
