I would like to imagine if any of these movements became normalized then language would evolve and change around it. But we do already see distinctions I see people describe themselves as Norse pagan or Celtic pagan etc etc and they willingly tack on the pagan part when they could leave it off.

It *kinda* was paganus was a term that mostly applied to people who live out in the country side as opposed to the city , and since Christianity mainly spreading in the urban areas and the rural areas keeping their tradition, paganus applied to the country folk who were still in trad ways
