When people hyperfixate on punishing “false rape allegations,” which are often not even provably false (and could very well be true), they’re purposefully distracting from the fact that most rapists don’t receive any punishment at all. They want rape victims punished instead of rapists.

This is one of the reasons that we recommend that institutions implement a solid RJ program in place of mediation. It's also important to recognize that RJ practitioners are meant to be well trained in the process to ensure that they do not unintentionally cause additional harm.
Restorative justice, if done correctly, is very different from mediation. But a lot of organizations are just calling their mediation processes RJ and that’s so profoundly harmful.

Mediation never works with a power imbalance. It deepens the imbalance.
