SCOTUS set to screw people and constitution!

"He’s now scapegoating Adm. Frank Bradley. That suggests that Hegseth is well aware of the truth — that the bombing was illegal, that the follow-up bombing of survivors was illegal, and that killing alleged criminals without due process of law is murder."
Trump's thug just turned America against him — for good
Don’t be fooled. The only people undermining the American military’s chain of command are the president and his secretary of defense. How?Specifically, by blaming the admiral who was in charge of the boat bombing in the Caribbean in September. More generally, by lying and acting cowardly. Leaders who...

WTF! Trump is deteriorating while leaving the worst possible people in charge, and most of the press ignores it, likely because it doesn't serve their wealthy overlords' interests.
Hey, Does Anyone Want to Talk About Donald Trump’s Infirmities?
He’s clearly slipping, mentally and physically, but the political press suddenly finds it less newsworthy that we have a woefully aging president.

Excellent article explaining how Trump and Hegseth's orders and tactics are illegal, and unjustified, and by extension, anyone who follows them is violating numerous laws. They've turned our military into their illegitimate, personal execution force.
Trump's lackeys just committed unspeakable acts for him — and they don't have immunity
The latest South Park episode nailed it: When “Secretary of War” Pete Hegseth gets wind of a small Colorado town’s annual holiday race, he declares it an “Antifa uprising” and calls out the troops to crush it. While armed forces assemble their AK-47s, Hegseth struts around filming himself for well-c...

Trump’s and right-wing influencers' lies have real-world consequences!

"Smith said that Trump "inspired his supporters to commit acts of physical violence" by spreading "demonstrably and, in many cases, obviously false" claims about the 2020 election."
Pipe bomb suspect told FBI he believed 2020 election conspiracy theories
The suspect has been cooperating with the FBI, according to sources, and is expected to make his first court appearance on Friday.

Conservatives are increasingly calling for the repeal of women's right to vote. Sounds like a joke, but it is so not! This is their brains on conservatism. Conservatism is toxic and leads to fever swamp dreams!
'More and more' MAGA Republicans openly calling to end women’s right to vote
Over the years, right-wing firebrand author Ann Coulter argued, on various occasions, that the United States needs to "reconsider women's suffrage." And during Trump's second presidency, however, an increasing number of Christian nationalists and MAGA influencers are flat-out calling for the repeal ...

Excellent, in my opinion, overview of conservatism touching on what makes is so destructive for democracies and egalitarian societies. Basically conservatives are against democracy and egalitarianism, they just want it all for themselves!

It’s important to note from a military perspective that if a subordinate is about to give an unlawful order & his senior knows about it, it’s also a requirement for the senior official to stop him from executing it. And then counsel/discipline him.

So there’s that, too.

@fromtga.bsky.social is right: FPTP could allow any kind of dangerous populist to take power on a minority of the vote, or by taking over the ruling party.
