The species are all (in captivity anyway) female, and they 'mate' each other, laying eggs that hatch into clones of themselves!

I'm so happy it's spring!! The grass is starting to pop up, the snow is banished to the most sheltered places, the birds and the frogs are singing, the garter snakes are out, outside smells like life again... *contented sigh*
I've even had the energy to go on a few walks so far! Hope it lasts.

A few different progress shots.
Pic 2 is an early one, where I used regular doubled up thread and ribbon for sewing. Pic 3 shows proper linen tapes and linen thread. I trim pages flush with a very sharp chisel.

I didn't have a decorative paper that suited a still unfinished book (will post when it's done, which won't be for a while, as I'm experimenting with a decorative flair for the cover) so I drew my own design to print some myself.

It's got a rounded and backed spine, and a decorative label inset on the cover. I used the same marbled paper to make the headbands, endpapers, and label. A rounded spine adds durability and ease of opening!
