I've made progress on Thanatophobia's next special ability: suppressing fire. It allows the user to fire upon any soldier moving within its cone of effect!

This is a little overpowered right now and pretty glitchy, I'm happy with how it's working out so far!

Every weapon type in Thanatophobia will have a costly "special attack" that can be used situationally.

Here's the sniper: collateral. Bullet will pierce all targets along its path and deal full damage to each.

Soldiers can now "peek" one tile around corners and cover to get a better shot. Right now, this doesn't cost an action.

Ignore Dude McGuy's terrible aim.

New weapon! Large machine gun, specialized for damaging enemies in cover.

It won't seem like much at first glance, but these few colored pixels in this progress bar are proof that troops can be awarded EXP in battle and it's saved between them.

In my game, your soldiers will gain proficiency in 10 skills. Milestone points provide major unlocks.

These specific unlocks don't actually exist in the game yet, of course.

In Thanatophobia, you'll be able to heal up your soldiers between battles by using specialized "MedBeds".

It's not easy to show, but this is also now preserved across play sessions in saved data.

My game is inspired by XCOM, but with a unique twist: the user has a lot more influence on hit chance than just soldier skill, distance, and cover. What's the hit chance of this shot? You can't really know.
