The Silurian hypothesis assesses modern science's ability to detect evidence of a prior advanced civilization. It suggests it would be difficult to find direct evidence like technological artifacts. Tantalizing thought that maybe we weren't the first, don't you think?

During the Apollo missions, we confirmed that the moon is covered with a thick layer of abrasive dust called regolith, the result of millions of meteor impacts over billions of years. Battling these abrasive effects is a major focus in development of future moon technology.
