Really fun to talk to the year 10s at Royal High in Bath about plastics and solar energy. Great to inspire future chemists! Had a nice ice cream on the way home as well! Bath in the sun is such a pretty place.

Ever wanted to know which of the UK "premium" supermarkets has the best mince pie? Well, floor 2 of the Molecular Sciences Building @uobchemistry.bsky.social has been doing the hard graft this week to answer that question. The clear winner is M&S!

Congratulations to Seunghyeon Kim (@seunghyeonkim.bsky.social) on his new position as an Assistant Professor at DGIST S. Korea. I couldn't have managed the group in Germany without him! He is a fantastic scientist and will be a great academic. #chemsky

Here is a thread of his work at MPIP.

Congratulations to Rong Li for defending her PhD last week🎉🎉🎉

Rong is the second PhD student from my group in Germany, and her PhD was in responsive polymer photocatalysts. She is a fantastic scientist and was a pleasure to work with. Here is a summary of her impressive published work. #chemsky

Thomas's first paper was on creating photocatalytic hydrogels for the remediation of water pollutants. He produced some nice scalable systems. If you are interested check out his paper in ChemMater

Congratulations to Dr. Thomas Kuckhoff from the
Landfester Department at mpi_polymer who passed his PhD defence on designing photocatalytic materials by merging macromolecules with small molecular photocatalysts. Thomas is the first PhD from my group in Germany so I am rather proud!!!
