But I agree - I think there is so much that could be explored in this world. I want to know more about it!

I cried at the very end.

I could understand if it was posed as "so traumatized that they're terrified of unknown horrors vs the known horrors they've adapted to", BUT that clearly isn't the case.

The Newtype center stuff was also really messed up. I'm not a cryer and Narrative made me bawl. I guess it's children being tortured for the pleasure of adults no matter what.

I don't know how you remove Lalah from being someone who experienced violence. She represents how women are victimized in times of war, and I don't want anything that suggests that it's "easy" to get out of those situations.
June 3, 2025 at 8:48 PM
Char shows up and Lalah's saved herself and they're on even grounds for a friendship based off mutual respect (versus her seeing him as her savior)

Ohhh, I'd love that. Or after the men abandon the mansion, the women build their own little town and start a safe haven for refuges and everyone lives in peace 🥹

Same! ☺️

There's literally no way for you to know where my knowledge gaps lie! I was sitting here like "I know we both agree sex slavery is bad, where are we disconnecting here?!" 🤣
June 3, 2025 at 8:38 PM
I still want Lalah to get everything she ever wanted. Now I just need a scene of her exacting revenge on everyone involved, and all of the other women going free and also finding joy.
June 3, 2025 at 8:37 PM
I figured at a certain point in this conversation that I was missing some key piece of information 🤣 thank you for being so patient!
June 3, 2025 at 8:36 PM
AHHHHHHHHH! I didn't know the government said that, now it's all clicking into place. Or course they said they didn't do anything wrong and that people WANTED to be raped and abused 🙃. That would definitely change the context of "Lalah stayed because she thought it would improve her life"
June 3, 2025 at 8:34 PM
I definitely would have preferred that option (or in an episode it shows her going back to the mansion and a third party kills all the arme guards and she's just there to give an explanation of everything and name names). I do want this show to give Lalah actual freedom and a life and happiness.
June 3, 2025 at 8:23 PM
I don't think I'm understanding what you're trying to communicate. Reminding people that governments have committed atrocities against their people, and that real people suffered because of it isn't the same as saying it was okay. Unless you mean that by NOT changing it it's like approval.
June 3, 2025 at 8:20 PM
Ahhh, I took this entire episode as "Lalah is creating timelines looking for one where she gets what she wants". That this entire universe exists because of Lalah. Which would bring up "why would she create a timeline where she ever ended up in the brothel to begin with"?
June 3, 2025 at 8:12 PM
Okay, I missed the part when they warned her that she could get raped. I was wondering why she was so nervous going down the hallway. In that case, you're totally right that it would have been in-character for Machu to want to defend Lalah and the other women the way she always wants to defend Nyaan
June 3, 2025 at 8:08 PM
I watched this and felt that she knows where she is on a timeline where she likes the ending. She's putting up with hell to get what she wants in the end. I don't think she's happy about her current situation, she clearly planned the fire to help all the other women escape too.
June 3, 2025 at 8:06 PM
That's how I took it - she knows what's coming and she can survive until then. I've never been held against my will as a sex slave, but I spent a decade in an abusive relationship, and once I had a plan I was able to bide my time and be patient to reach my goal, because I could see the light.
June 3, 2025 at 8:02 PM
This is very true! Machu has a lot of righteous anger, but I don't know if she fully comprehended the situation. She obviously was terrified to consider killing Annqi, but she was quasi-innocent. Maybe if she understood what the place was and who the men were, she would have blasted them?
