I *think* it’s also possible to do the whole thing over NFC but looks like I’ll have to get my hands on the spec and read through it.

I’m not super familiar with the spec, but there’s at least one site that lets you test over web bluetooth - but that one wants you to use a QR code to initiate the connection rather than NFC (tl;dr you start with either NFC or QR and then it transmits via bluetooth - afaict)
