Sorry to learn about death threats but having worked for execs exactly like these clueless and arrogant maroons, I still experience great joy because of this incident.

How do you think this book will be constructive to future generations as they create a post dictatorship nation?

Totally agree. Drunk and hungover and needed to barf over the railing. But that family is dug in on this fantastical story; a sad but mundane explanation will never cut it for them.

And the campers and counselors were left to fend for themselves because the camp directors and senior staff shirked their duty of care. From cabin locations to being aware of and heeding NWS warnings, a culture of entitlement and indifference led to this avoidable tragedy.

Correct. ACA is purely voluntary. But its reputation is such that most camps want it and tout their accreditation.

Former camper/counselor here…ACA accreditation was the first thing I thought of when I learned of this. Gobsmacked to see they didn’t have the ACA big on their website and ACA didn’t list them on their site. For a camp that size and with that history it’s such a red flag

Which camps shut down and which one moved?

If your camp is ACA accredited you have one less thing to worry about.

I thought the 1:15am catastrophic flood alert would have been received by those radios? Even if the radio part isn’t on, the alert sounds? That would have given the camp ample time to evacuate?

ACA is a voluntary program; independent third party that helps camps meet and usually exceed local regs. Most camps want the designation; it does cost $ to get it though. And perhaps some camps think they know best! My old camp touted the ACA badge and served as best practices model for other camps

The camp wasn’t accredited by the American Camp Association. Big red flag. You can find great camps via ACA.

Pound sand, Senator. Sure, shut downs suck, but you what else sucks? Losing our democracy to the MAGATs without even trying to make the case to your constituents and rally support for an opposition party. Your retirement can’t happen soon enough.

She ran out of a Duncan Donuts in her district when a constituent politely challenged her on an issue. She’s a proud member of the Merry Band of Bigots.

Your concern is noted. I’m interested is seeing what you do once you’ve gathered the facts.
