There are a bunch of articles like this, which argue that Trump is going after institutions because of their failures.
The reality is Trump is going after institutions - bureaucracy, military, judges, lawyers, media - because he is an authoritarian who wants control.

Trump’s Battles With Colleges Could Change American Culture for a Generation
Many in higher education worry Trump’s efforts to bend academia to his will could end American leadership in research and science. Universities are not finding many allies to defend them.

Here is one weird form of public participation this tax season:

If you can, use Direct File, the free IRS software to enable you to report your taxes. The more people that use it, and report good experiences, the harder it will be for DOGE to later remove it.

A government program made tax filing free and more efficient. Musk and DOGE may get rid of it anyway
The fate of the IRS Direct File program is unclear as Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency cleave their way through the federal bureaucracy. Republicans and commercial tax preparation...

FDR once bragged to a massive crowd at Madison Square Garden that the richest people in the nation hated him and “I welcome their hatred.”

Just weeks later, he was re-elected with 61% of the vote in a 523-8 blowout in the Electoral College.

Voters *like* politicians who make the right enemies.
The institutional Democratic Party is guided by an almost pathological level of conflict avoidance in almost every direction. “What can we do to make the least number of people mad?” is just a bankrupt way to operate.

It was great to meet Dr. George C. Edwards III at the Arkansas Political Science Association conference! He spoke to us powerfully about why the electoral college is bad for America.

I believe Musk and DOGE disbanded 18F because we stood in the way of their "procurement capture" operation. We get the government *out* of wasteful contracts. Musk wants that money back for himself.

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:
