An interesting difference to notice is that in my company is true the opposite: it's the markdown stored in a git repo that is accessible just from a subset of the organization, and some less-technical people could be penalized from this approach.

Which strategy did you use for storing ADRs?
I'm still trying to understand pros and cons of git and wiki (or any other). I don't have a strong opinion and I can't find anything 100% satisfying.

Exactly the same for me.
I think that when this happens it’s just the lack of a hook in our brain, or maybe too many confusing hooks. My English is far from being good, but for example reading your post I immediately picked up “the maze runner” movie, and “the curse of monkey island” videogame.
