Had some fun times in 2025 despite all the nonsense in the world. Here’s hoping things are on the up for all you lovely folk in the New Year.

Been re-reading the Tiffany Aching books recently and realised I have unintentionally picked Nanny Ogg and Granny Weatherwax as sketch subjects #Inktober.

I’ve seen a lot of fun suggestions about who might have carried out the Louvre heist. But who would be the best person to investigate this crime?

Thinking about setting myself an Inktober challenge (still a month off I know). I love to draw people with interesting ‘lived in’ faces. If anyone wants to send me photo of someone you know I will try to sketch them (no promises on quality).

Pleased to have managed to read a Welsh-language novel (well more of a novella, but still) for the first time. I didn’t understand every word but was able to follow pretty well. The narrator voice comes across really strongly even to someone reading in their second language.

Couldn’t photograph the pine marten so here is an artist’s impression I’ve been working on.

Saw a wild pine martin today on a walk at Ynys Hir RSPB reserve. Little guy sat at the base of a tree for a few seconds looking at me before running off. Very cool to see! Sadly I wasn’t quick enough to get a picture. So here’s a pretty view of the estuary instead.

Just finished reading The Drowned Woods by Emily-Lloyd Jones. Very enjoyable story inspired by the legend of Cantref y Gwaelod the sunken kingdom of Cardigan bay. I really like her writing style.

Lovely stroll around York today followed by time well spent a watching Tom Cruise dangle upside down from a bi-plane, as he does.
