Your GE requirements depend on when you start and CSULB webpages sometimes gives misleading information (e.g., listing courses that count for some students, but not for others). Current GE requirements can be found at this link:

Bio 300 and 301 are GE courses for non-majors.
Biology majors cannot take these courses.

All CSULB students have to take an upper division category B GE course. General biology majors don't need to worry about this requirement because Bio 370, required of all majors, is an upper division category B GE course.

If you're considering a PA (physician's assistant) career, always check the pre-reqs for the PA schools you're considering applying to. The biology major covers most of the courses, but there are a few not automatically included. Schools vary, but these are the most common extra science pre-reqs.

Be aware that Bio 342 and Bio 345 are mutually exclusive - once you take one of these, you can't take the other.
- Bio 342 is best for educational, public health, and medical post-bacc plans.
- Bio 345 is best for ecological, environmental, and veterinary medicine post-bacc plans.
