If you're interested in a health care related career, the COPE Health Scholars and Care Navigator Scholars programs can be valuable for gaining experience. Both of these can qualify for Bio 494 credit (with prior approval from Dr. Ashley Carter).

The Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County has a program for those who completed a bachelor's degree but lack substantial scientific research experience. It doesn't qualify for the Bio 494 course, but it's a great opportunity for recent graduates.

The Long Beach Community Internship Program (LBCIP) is "a collaborative internship program that creates pathways for CSULB juniors and seniors who are Long Beach Promise Students to engage in meaningful paid internship opportunities"

The National Science Foundation has several research experience programs which students can apply to. Not only are these great opportunities, they are usually paid and can count for Bio 494 credit. Contact Dr. Carter to confirm about the Bio 494 credit.
