The family across the street had 7 kids. When dinner was ready the mom would come on the porch with a police whistle and blow three times. Any of the kids who didn’t hear the whistle missed dinner.

I was in high school in the 70’s. Most people didn’t lock their car doors. I went to get ice cream one night. While I was in Baskin Robbins, a guy with a mask and a butcher knife climbed in my car and hid in the back seat. Things happen when you least expect it.
