The insidious way things get worse is deliberate, rewarded optimization. These steps made Hotweels measurably cheaper (or improved margins), with no measurable loss of quality. Because the quality was hard to quantify, or noisy, or deemed low value by a secondary metric (no sales impact).

Stacked branches always seem like just a good idea, and then you react to some feedback in the first one and need to rebase the world and get it re-reviewed

Productivity tip: plan for being OOO on a day, clear out your calendar but then actually show up for work. So much free time!

For years I've had issues with my Kinesis Freestyle Edge RGB keyboard, it always took nearly a minute to "boot" where it wouldn't react to any inputs. Tried to find a solution many times before without success. Now ChatGPT gave me correct solution right away 🤯

Not a fan of model pickers for users in AI tools. It's great to sometimes try out new models but in everyday work, I don't want to deal with that burden. I want the tool to make the decision for me or for the dev team to have picked the best model for the scenario.

Attempted to replace my aging UniFi Dream Machine with the new Dream Router 7. Placed it in the exact same location and coverage was way worse. Even stepping two yards away through a doorway, while still having LOS to the router caused a -30dbm drop.

Hopefully an exchanged unit will work better 🤞

My own repos? some-feature, fix-some-problem

Giant repos at work? cschleiden/project/feature, cschleiden/spikes/some-prototype. Makes it easier to find older branches, some might stay around for a long time

Huh, Claude is really good at utilizing MCP servers. Playing with a local one that exposes tools to list prompts and to run evaluations against new versions of them. Claude makes it super simple to then use those tools to make prompt optimization 🤯
