One of hardest working people on helping others understand fairly complicated times when it comes to the High Court. And also in an insightful, straightforward, and way. You are truly a treasure.

Could be a five! post week for One First. But hopefully you rest.

Why does John Tower get such short shrift.

Correction (D) not (E). If charged perhaps he’ll be exonerated.

Like it appears to be a violation of La. RS 18:1462(E). But if we always violated this law—which perhaps is part of why we’ve always had morons run the criminal clerk’s office—why stop now.

It’s certainly doesn’t feel right to have the electioneer law posted to the door of your polling place (in the form of a stop sign) and then see poll workers inside with lanyards and badges bearing the face of a candidate in a contested election.

As a lawyer, I can safely say lawyers are like alcohol, to paraphrase Homer Simpson, because they are the cause of and cure for life’s problems. If only we had more scientists and engineers. Instead we have fucking lawyers (and worse still law professors).

I lived in Europe, to them religion was not evil but something that needed to be regarded as suspicious; whereas government was generally trusted. Feel like that’s the flip here: we don’t trust government, but we do the god’s hucksters, eg Mormons.

And I would just follow this up with saying Calvin is legally innocent (and factually in my mind), but even if he was not, I can tell you he is better than Lombard by the mere fact that this fool would rather make this an issue rather than is own damn record.

Don’t know why anyone would want to be Clerk, but Lombard aligning with this lady certainly doesn’t get my vote for anything.
October 2, 2025 at 4:28 AM
Exactly. Jason never participated in Calvin Duncan’s case as a defense attorney and it is not true that Emily Maw participated in any action on the case while a member of the DAs office. These are lies!!! Whether you want to quibble about what it means to be exonerated, that is not a legal term.

Perhaps, but Landry in my experience has no problem putting is name on something like this. He has called the ICE detention center within the Louisiana State Penitentiary (Angola) after himself being something like the 57th: www.wafb.com/2025/09/03/a...
Angola Camp 57 to house violent ICE detainees
That would honor Louisiana’s 57th governor, Jeff Landry.
