What's a Slow Day At The Library Look Like? One librarian at one rural WV library: • Helped a non-profit renew their business license • Helped someone getting evicted (by no fault of their own) find and rent a new home • Helped a new college student get their apartment electric account set up • Helped a WV crafter send her inventory list to a Connecticut craft show • Informed a new community member on possible part- time employment opportunities (including phone numbers and contact names) that match her skills • Helped another community member finalize her paperwork for a legal settlement • Provided two interested women with information on the aqua fitness programs at the college • Helped a new farmer order nematodes to combat fleas and ticks (I suggested Guineas as a better idea, but...) • Turned one teenager on to Stephen King books, and another on to Goosebumps books • Shared rabbit prevention tips with a frustrated gardener • Fixed a teen's glasses that kept slipping down her nose • Helped a grandmother look up and understand her granddaughter's critical illness • Helped another patron print out her campground reservations for their family vacation • Played in the bird bath, filled the bird feeders, watered the vegetables being grown by library kids. AND - caught a dragonfly indoors and carefully set it free outdoors to have some good luck rub off on me Libraries Are So Much More Than Books!
