So we do not change borders unless it is the shared and free will of both countries involved. That would really fire the imagination of some countries’ leaders -see for example Trump.

This principle was later reaffirmed, for example, in the 1975 Helsinki Final Act, which confirmed the post World War II borders in Europe, even if some of them were historically disputed.

Hi Jake, There is a small problem: the principle of the inviolability of borders became one of the most important foundations of the international legal and political order after World War II. Its core idea is that state borders cannot be changed by force or threat of force by any other state.
