Honestly, the show can be pretty damn enjoyable when it's engaging with the spy show premise instead of doing extremely phoned in found family shenanigans.

"sorry, sarah, but i can control time now" and "am i crazy?" "yes, kill yourself" are all-timer lines in cinema

Early 2000s trash at its finest. The beginning actually held up better than I expected, all the over-the-top fanservice aside, but the rest uhhhh sure did not. Akira/Takumi, however, is timeless.

Looked really nice and had a fairly charming cast, though the compressed nature of the adaptation showed in a few places and it never feels like it strays particularly far from all the familiar LN tropes.

Fantastic--a bit slow in places, but it feels like a deliberate choice to take its time rather than a pacing issue. Has an incredible sense of atmosphere (and makes full use of the medium to evoke it) and depicts a fascinating relationship between the two male leads.

Love a show that executes an incredibly dumb premise with unfaltering earnestness. Don't know if I'd recommend it to others but I'm glad I hopped on; this was an unexpected treat every week.

Maintains all the charm of the first season with an even greater focus on the aspects of the series I like the most. Amane was such a great addition to the cast!

The humor and character writing just don't land for me in a way that tends to grate on my nerves (except for Turbo Granny, who is perfect in every respect), but it won me back at the eleventh hour with the robot fight and Evil Eye's everything. Now THAT was insanely fun stuff.

Yikes yikes yikes! Had a promising start, but completely fizzled out in the second half. I'm someone who can usually find something to enjoy in even RTD's messier finales, but this one was just irredeemably bad.

The material feels like it's getting better; that second story was pitch-perfect, and the "all the episodic adventures were connected" twist felt more satisfying than the first volume's. Could still stand to build better on some ideas, but pretty good overall!

Despite being so thoroughly familiar with its premise, it managed to be a pretty different movie from what I expected. Way more about the rollercoaster ride of "what effect does living in a time loop have on this dude's psyche" than plot. I liked that.

Delightful heist movie! Pretty simple, but nails all the right beats to make for an enjoyable watch.

Most of the heists feel too busy trying to get one over on you to be very coherent or clever (third one was the best!), but the extremely cool visual style and novelty of a heist-themed anime kept me coming back for more.

A manga I already liked gets an adaptation that elevates it on absolutely every level--you really can't go wrong here!

The middle portion was kind of a mess--there are so many parts I can point to and ask, "What was the point of that happening?"--but it ended on a strong enough note that I still walked away with a positive impression.

Great commentary about true crime podcasters being assholes 50 years before podcasts were a thing

Narratively a hot mess that shows more cracks the longer I think about it, but it had some incredibly iconic moments and I did have fun with how delightfully weird some plots got.

What a one-of-a-kind show. Not all of it worked for me--I think the middle stretch was more miss than hit--but I've rarely seen a show with such a strong sense of identity. The undercurrent of bittersweet melancholy it managed to capture in its strongest episodes was phenomenal.

Pretty much more of the same, but the final arc was some of the series' best material so far!

As someone who never got all that into the original manga, this was fun! Had its rough patches, especially in the beginning, but I think it struck the right balance of going full ham with anime-isms and making tweaks to make it work in live action. Some great casting.
