Gearing up to get some writers on the books for December and January!
I'd love to edit your manuscript that's ready for the next step, whether that's a consultation and overall feedback, developmental edits, copyedits, or proofreading.
Ask me anything!

Editors have a really hard job, and the good ones can make something unreadable readable, and the great ones can make something unreadable into something good. But they're basically invisible, until someone tries to write without one.

October's coming, and it's one of my busiest months outside of work. (Thanksgiving! A family event! Making Halloween costumes!) Over the years, I've learned to take more time off in October!

How do you handle holidays or time off? Here are some tips I shared with @editorsteaclub.bsky.social.

Even though NaNoWriMo as an organization is no more, the idea of dedicating the month of November to getting words on the page is as important now as ever.

My writing skills are rusty, but I’m going to use the time to try to finish that novel that’s been hanging over my head. Who’s with me?

This year has been a whirlwind and I can't believe it's only February 5th.

Stay hopeful out there friends. Help each other and don't give up.

Dorothy B. Porter changed libraries 💜

The Dewey Decimal System used to only have two classifications for Black people: 325 (colonization) & 326 (slavery). Each book by a Black person was put into one of these classifications. A book of poetry? Classified as colonization.

I have a little plea and it's this: please keep posting about things that aren't The Horrors. I am not saying to not look at or be informed about The Horrors. What I am saying—what I am genuinely kind of begging you to do—is keep posting about books and movies and sunsets and pets and joy. Please.

SHARE WIDELY.
KNOW YOUR RIGHTS.

With mass deportations starting today across the country, it is vitally important - for both citizens and non-citizens - to know your rights.

You have the right to remain silent. Assert it. You have the right to a lawyer. Ask for one.

No matter how many times I do it, there’s always a lingering anxiety when I email clients about money. I wish I could work for free, honestly.
