So, in short, I get questioned and critiqued about how I want something, on my desktop, in a group where customizing is king. Hell I don't even mind the RTFM nature as I am learning by doing that.

But seriously, this is rampant throughout Linux. And for that, we won't be in year of the Linux

I wasn't wanting any hand holding, I'll tinker myself as long as I know it can be done.

But I was met with more about "why would you ever need that" or "a bar doesn't take up that much screen space, nothing you do would need that"

It's an aesthetic. I have spent a lot of time tweaking my setup

One big thing I like, is an ultra small, top bar, that is normally hidden, and only shows itself when holding the Super key.

I go to the hyprland discord, and just ask if anyone has done that, and if they did, what bar did they use

(i3bar won't work and it's what I used)

I only had one major issue, and it wasn't related to my config, but the fact I was trying to use LightDM as a display manager (yay interesting software/hardware glitch). But no big deal, once I realized it was that and not a config.

I am extremely minimalist when it comes to my desktop

I've tried Sway in the past and it went absolutely brutal, but this time I decided to pickup hyprland

Went through all the documentation on hyprland and Arch wiki to get it playing nice with nVidia, including having to change some things because I use dracut rather than mkinitcpio

So, biggest thing is I've been running on X11 based things for a while, because nVidia drivers definitely did not play nice with the Wayland protocols.

I've been seeing a lot of driver updates doing my system updates and seeing that Wayland support under nVidia is increasing

The Windows 10 EOS is what finally got my mom (mid 60's) to switch over. She had a perfectly fine PC for what she needs (minor web browsing, posting bills, light office work)

Over Thanksgiving we backed up all the old pictures, wiped her computer clean, setup Debian + XFCE

It's been smooth

What a terrible thought.

I've been on Endeavour as my daily driver (work included) for about 2 years now
