as someone who only recently really 'got' fighting games, everyone is too focused on execution and not the 'soft skills' that make the genre what it is; footsies and all. it needs to be framed as a GAME, where imprefection is allowed, not a inputs per second test

love this. an emphasis on what the player can do over what the enemy can do is why so many rpgs make no impression on me, and enemies that 'just say no' contribtue to my fascination with the likes of ff1 and pokemon rby. choices under harsh constraints are the best!

RA has helped me stay invested in gaming. it's not about the acs themselves, it's the surrounding framework. the site runs many events that work like book clubs, giving extrinsic motivation to try games you otherwise wouldn't

nothing's more telling of 'most pokemon fans Don't Think' than remake culture still existing after BDSP. also bw1 is already the tightest standard pkmn game ever made but rpg players and recognizing good game design are already oil and water

why does a game being beatable in minutes make it worthless garbage? to get that fast, you have to spend multiplicatively more time and effort than the average consumer

the early-game is the best part cause you have meaningful restrictions and work to break them. what guys don't realize is that optimized pokemon is not actually very fun
