The other reason why tribalism comes into effect in this case is because we stay closed off in a bubble with familiar settings disregarding everyone else. To say your group is more valid than others is a systemic way of staying divided, leading to biased prejudice. This is how cults started people.

When you weaponize the turmoil of others, claiming it as your own to validate your questionable behavior, you're hiding under the facade of a victim status under delusions that it will absolve you of consequences to your questionable behavior.
