Replace "genetics" with "biology and virology"
"Inheritance or gene expression" with "communicable diseases and immunology"
"race" with "vaccines"
Phenotype" with "eradication of disease"

I wish more people were at least mildly educated on genetics. People don’t understand inheritance or gene expression on a basic level so we can’t really have informed conversations around race as is pertains to phenotype.

I know going to Africa (overall) as an African-American is complicated, but going to Benin as a Haitian was a delight. Though they still tried to upcharge us 😆gotta get those US $.

Not pictured was my dad absolutely fighting over $1 for a back alley sim because he didn't want to be scammed.

Not pictured is the mass grave where enslaved people who died in the cages were buried. They also buried people alive they thought they were too sickly to make the journey.

Cool.

Anyway here's a picture of me at the temple of the pythons wearing a snake purely to bully my dad into doing it too.

These images are from the 2.5 mile long slave trail. that replicates the last chunk of the journey (before the boats) kidnapped people had to take. You can walk it. We did not (see aging parent and very hot temps) .

These pictures are from Ganvie. Ganvie is a town built in a lake - not ON a lake - IN a lake. Originally, it was on the shore but the slave catchers had a superstition about crossing water so ~ 500 years ago the residents said fuck it and built their town in the lake to avoid being kidnapped.
