Not usually. 😒 Most of the time when you’re deployed on a fire, you do get paid 24 hours a day, but sometimes it’s a reduced rate during off hours. The overtime can add up to a healthy “bonus” on base salary, but it’s still a relatively low wage for a truly high risk job.

My best guess is somewhere between 5000-6000 lbs. When <2/3 were shipped out here from TN a few years ago, the freight weight was 3400 lbs and I haven’t been that busy with geochem! 🤣

I got it a few years ago. I remember getting a fairly decent welt, an achy arm, and feeling slightly feverish that evening, but that was about it. My wife had a very brief moment of vertigo, but that seemed more like a one-off thing specific to her.
