Reading all the comics and figuring out how to best collect them so you don't have to. Fan of everything except that one thing you like. Everything else is cool.

Well, that sucks: Marvel is shuttering their amazing API.

Everyone wants a damn walled garden of data.

It's absolutely wild to finally own the contents of Sandman Mystery Theatre Compendium Two.

For a long time it really felt like the back half of Mystery Theatre would NEVER be collected!

THE F4 IS BACK BABY!

I'm catching up on the comics of July 9th, and Ryan North's new Fantastic Four #1 with Humberto Ramos, Victor Olazaba, Edgar Delgado, & Travis Lanham is peak F4.

It started with an old concept and I thought it'd be a retread. Nope. More super-science and super-heart from North

Marvel's best X-Men team book for most of this year has been Doom's Division.

It only has two cast members I'd call X-Men. What it lacks in X-Genes, Yoon Ha Lee & Minkyu Jung make up in a Claremontian ability to juggle a big cast full of international characters with complex motivations and culture

Y'all MUST read We're Taking Everyone Down With Us.

Matthew Rosenberg cooked up a BRILLIANT "Super-Villain v. Spy" concept full of humor, heart, & violence. Stefano Landini's layouts are brilliant. Jason Wordie's colors dictate the mood. Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou's letters are clever and sell the humor

New evergreen reaction GIF just dropped 😂

(please know I am never the one responsible for these. like, I'm responsible for the behavior, but @james47591.bsky.social sends them to me unprompted)

This morning I read another two chapters of REVERSAL by Alex di Campi, Skylar Patridge, Kelly Fitzpatrick, & Hassan Ostmane-Elhaou.

An absolutely remarkable and heartfelt comic book with outstanding artwork.

Highly recommended to fans of FML (no music, but similar family/supernatural vibe).

Absolutely disgusted to have bought Polis #1 from AWA, a comic book about a "Protopia" future where not everything is awful, only to reach the back matter and discover some of the "creators" used generative AI.

That might be the last comic I buy from AWA.

Surprised Mark Russell would headline this

Don't threaten me with a good time, Marvel.

not trying to pit any comics against any other comics, but month after month the best Batgirl scenes are in Birds of Prey

I wanted to have my Absolute Martian Manhunter song ready for the weekly stream in 10hrs but the bridge is just not there yet.

I used to throw demos of things out willy nilly, but the internet is forever and I want to get this right.

Perhaps for issue #2.

(but the lyrics are SO MUCH about #1 😭)

IT'S FINALLY HAPPENING! DC is finishing collecting the run of Sandman Midnight Theatre in a single format!

The thing about Mattia De Iluis is that even his linework and flats are stunning. It'd be just as wild for his art even without the stunning rendering and lighting.

Here's a before/after from his Insta of his variant cover of WE'RE TAKING EVERYONE DOWN WITH US.

I strongly suggest going into Absolute Martian Manhunter totally cold, with no one else's reactions or opinions looming over your read.

I know I've already been raving about him for MONTHS now, but I think Farid Karami's just-wrapped arc of Avengers was like a thunderclap announcing not just the arrival of an industry heavyweight, but his evolution.

(Also, some of Federico Blee's all-time best color work on these issues!)

Brevoort: "If 10 issues isn’t long enough for you to feel comfortable, how many would? … The truth of the matter is that most series that are launched … aren’t going to command enough of the audience to reach those digits. We can pretend that the situation is otherwise, but it simply isn’t so"

Just binged all of Tynion, Hixson, & Otsmane-Elhaou's DEVIANT.

Perhaps the best queer horror story I've ever read. A total sucker punch with a perfect finale.

That... makes an amount of sense.

I have always loved this weirdass comic so damn much.

I want to be Samantha's friend. Is she on here?

(from the letters page of X-Men (2024) #13, which was actually amazing)

One of these months I'm going to be frustrated enough by the script in Spawn that I go in and re-write every caption box and dialog balloon myself, as if I'm bootleg translating a manga.

I swear there is a good comic in there.

I don't understand putting a Gary Frank cover on an issue with Elena Casagrande interiors.

They're both masterful and Frank draws an awe-inspiring Fin Fang Foom, but it's a complete style mismatch and Casagrande's art is its own best advertisement.

Every day this week I have seen/heard more people who are excited about The Tin Can Society.

It really feels like it hit a tipping point after last week's issue #6 of 9 with sustained word of mouth about it across several communities where I hang out (only a fraction of which was my doing 😈 ).
March 12, 2025 at 8:48 AM
I swear I could give up my entire pull and just re-read Nice House on the Lake / by the Sea over and over again every week.

(Lazarus is another comic that makes me feel this way.)
