My third favorite zombie movie of 1985! Jeffrey Combs and David Gale chew the scenery perfectly, but you gotta admire how game Barbara Crampton is for all the weird shit the movie puts her through. Absolute queen. ❤️ Wish we had had time for a “From Beyond” double feature!

A decent li’l tale of “be careful what you wish for” revenge-gone-wrong with a creepy monster and solid practical FX.

The touching story of an unlikable capitalist lapdog who cares for no one but herself, makes increasingly selfish choices, and ends up getting exactly what she deserves. Full of the expected Raimi flourishes, which, while great, still weren’t enough to save it for me.

As with a lot of other Bava (and Italian horror in general), the experience is more about vibes than plot (see again “Dellamorte Dellamore”), and that’s fine, ‘cause that’s okay.

Finally, some good fucking food. A wonderfully inventive, gorgeously artificial at times, dark comic take on the zombie genre. The descent into dream logic is extremely Italian.

Objectively worse than “Clown in a Cornfield”, but subjectively more enjoyable, earning it an extra quarter star. Jack-O holds his scythe all wrong, though. He needs to watch some YouTube tutorials.

Okay, sure. Whatever. Competently made but boring as hell. Trope after trope with paper-thin characterization that gets old fast. The whole premise gets sweaty halfway through, so I’m not sure how the author was able to write three novels on the subject.

The fantasy tale of cops taking violence from one of their own seriously. Half-star deduction for making us wait until the sequel for the “Maniac Cop Rap”.

Best goddamn zombie movie after Romero’s OG trilogy. It even introduced me to The Cramps back in the day!

This in-name-only sequel proves more interesting than the original with a spirit possession angle, some gnarly kills, and a baby-faced Michael Ironside.
