Almost absolutely reliable. In Ireland since 2017. Parent to LGBTQ+. Writer of history, studier of literature, creator of cosy magical realism. Just a whole mess.
The low-news members of the household have discovered the article about the iPhone Pocket.

Alfredo sauce that takes not even 10 minutes. Goes on everything. Can stir anything into it over pasta.

This is "sticky chicken" which a friend gave me to 25 years ago. Do it on the weekend, strip the meat and keep it in the fridge. It's great cold, warmed up, or used in some other dish.

My son's boyfriend decorated a pumpkin for us, featuring our two cats, his two cats, and our lovely giant who passed away last year.

I love this so much.

Living with cartoonists is a whole other level. It’s easy to know why they’re poking 3d fun at the cat’s obsession. Why they’re making fun of the cat on the tea mug cupboard is a separate question.

I'm looking up pet sweater patterns to crochet (we have an old cat who needs one) and came across this holiday-themed one and I will not stop laughing today or probably even tomorrow.

I'm now the go-between for HSE and a doctor's office on some form or another which was sent but is also a link but also needs to be printed and dropped off and filled out and how does anything get done in this country if not for the feet and free time of its residents.

Started this two days ago, got 50 pages in, and regrettably had to put it down to do other things. Today I'm a little at loose ends while I chew over some reading I've done. The rest of today will be spent on this while I think.

We're only to the dotted line (17:30-ish), and I'm already thinking we'll be reduced to sticks by Monday morning. I'll have to fetch our things from Wales if this continues.

We also have an international guest here who is supposed to fly out tomorrow morning at around 6.

Guess not.

I have two important contributions to make to this discourse: casting for the eventual Irish TV series spoofing this election cycle.

The DMC floss website is doing my head in. New Zealand got euros. I want to smack my head against the wall.

I spent an hour colouring in a colouring book, and it was the kindest thing I've done for myself in ages. I took stock of my collection, curated a little seasonal bundle, and set it next to my desk, ready to grab whenever I feel the urge to scroll the socials.

Emperor Rudolf II (1552–1612), a Habsburg, if you couldn't tell. I'm always delighted when I come across a mention of him, because it's like imagining a large ham with notions of magical kingship.
