While we didn’t manage to see one of those gigantic Pileated Woodpeckers again this time at Bothe-Napa Valley State Park, we did see this very small, flittering bird.

#birds #birdphotography This flock of about 100 Western Sandpipers were flying back and forth between two nearby waterways. Takeoffs and landings were smoothly done, but after looking at the photos, in flight maneuvers were fairly chaotic. Not a murmur of starlings for sure.

#birds At Heron's Head Park, this Snowy Egret has triumphed in a three way battle with anther Egret and a Cormorant - which surfaced in a surprise attack. Blurry action photos ensued until it was clear who won the fish.

I'd recently been posting new and old art when I realized a number of scanned images were missing, so now I shall dig through these slides in the hope of finding them to send out for scanning.
