Celebrating local trails and working to join them together - across Vermont!
XVT is celebrating milestones achieved and new goals ahead. With help of many, we made it thru 2025 with great momentum even in the face of headwinds. Read our full 2025 report and 2026 plans at crossvermont.org. We are a grassroots charity funded entirely by donations from trail users. Thank you!

The rail trail is best we've ever seen. 2025 saw big upgrade throughout Groton and into Marshfield. Lead by Town of Groton on the long section they own, and also by State Forest and Town of Marshfield on their sections. With support from CVTA, we commit to help keep it this nice into the future!

Thanks to Rise and Run Timberframes in Groton for building three beautiful new trailhead information kiosks. And for going above and beyond to help us get in under the wire as winter arrives and install the last of them on rail trail in Marshfield this weekend! New maps and info display on the way.

The bridge was stabilized after 2024 storm. But a void under a portion of the structure, where stream bank collapsed in the storm, meant that the trail gravel was sinking down. That's all been filled in now and the tread is back to 100%. Should be good to go even if high water again, but we'll see.

Last of the 2024 storm damage repaired. The bridge 1 mi east of RT 14 was stabilized last summer. But trail users probably have noticed a slump in the tread and a suspiciously convenient pile of stone nearby, and wondered about the possibility of a chocolate and peanut butter situation.

If only they also made an e-wrench, or possibly a sonic screw driver of some sort, then we'd be all set. Ah well, worked out anyway, at the Cross Vt Trail 2025 Foliage Ride.

But in our hearts we give quote of day to "We went all the way to the bog. The bog is beautiful." View of Marshfield Cliffs from Cross Vt Trail yesterday at annual Foliage Ride.
