Midterms won't save you. Polititans won't save you. Your community will. And making that network as big as possible. It's not impossible if it's unavoidable. The only way out is through and together.
You should join a union, or a tenants' union, or local mutual aid organizations, or get to know your community at the very least if you want to make it through America's near future
