I will always defend ‘Shakespeare in Love.’ I own it and have watched it many times over the years. I was today years old when I learned that Tom Stoppard wrote the screenplay.

Alien Earth getting all kinds of hate online. I enjoyed it, and applaud it for doing something different with the Alien franchise.

Looks like this guy’s major area of focus was the behavior of spiders. I wonder when he realized the amount of money he could make as a culture warrior with a phd next to his name.

Just got word that @brazospress.bsky.social discontinued the Brazos Theological Commentaries of the Bible series. It had some issues, possibly stemming from R.R. Reno’s editorial direction, but it was definitely a unique perspective on the biblical commentary genre.

“How can you not be romantic about baseball?”

The Astros are essentially fielding their AAA team, yet they are tied for the best record in the AL.
The Astros won 4-3. They are 60-42.

A lineup without Altuve, Alvarez, Paredes or Peña managed 11 hits and took 15 at-bats with runners in scoring position. Brandon Walter threw seven innings of one-run ball. Houston is 20-9 in one-run games and has a six-game AL West lead.

Does anyone remember First Things publishing a piece defending the genocide of Native Americans in the name of converting them to Christianity? I can’t, for the life of me, find it anywhere.

This, from a guest opinion essay, is illogical. It becomes super easy to laugh off a party’s platform as “special interest.” I mean, how is pursuing climate friendly policies not forward looking?

Jamelle Bouie keeps saying that politics isn’t over.
The White House has just rescinded a memo ordering a "temporary pause" on federal funding.

It's an astonishing reversal, a day after officials defended the funding freeze as necessary to ensure government spending was aligned with the president's vision.

What I find so interesting here, is that much of conservative evangelicalism see God and Trump intertwined, but here you have a priest—a woman—directly challenging Trump from the pulpit. Many have capitulated to Trump, but one has spoken out in dramatic fashion.

Hello bluesky. Nothing of interest to say for first post; just that my goal this Thanksgiving is to finally watch Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.
