I think a lot of people have mutual aid confused with charity on here, maybe because folks most often see it in the context of fundraiser asks (which are great!).

Way back when, in another lifetime, I lived by an airport. I had 2 small children and would watch the planes take off and think, "I could pack a suitcase and ask for 3 tickets to wherever the next plane was going. We could leave it all behind. He wouldn't know where we were." (1/8)

Ended up in the ER today with a 3 mm kidney stone. Had a CT scan. Didn't have to worry about how much this was going to cost or getting a bill. I'm privileged. I'm married to a retired army dude and can utilize the hospital on post.

Last month was shitty. But I've made a major change and have peace in my home once again.
