a man and a woman standing in front of an airplane that says american airlines
Alt: George Costanza from Seinfeld yelling at a woman "You know, we're living in a society"

I forgot which author said he tried to come up with an original name for a coffee shop with a pun and every time he came up with one, he checked and there were already half a dozen places irl with the name. Same thing with hair salons in France I guess

What?! That wasn't in the job description, surely?

I think you would enjoy Téméraire tremendously, more than the other.

Tooth and claw, by Jo Walton. It begins with the death of a dragon patriarch and the book depicts the consequences of his death for his 4 children. To begin with, how must his corpse be divided to be eaten?
This full dragon society is weird and funny but is also a critic of patriarchy and capitalism

The YA book series The last Dragonslayer by Jasper Fforde. I realize there is literally dragonslayer in the title so it looks like I didn't understand the assignment at all. There is only one old dragon left in the world and he's living in a small reserve. The protagonist is tasked with killing him.

The book series "Temeraire" by Naomi Novik. It depicts an alternate England during the Napoleonic wars with dragons. They are useful flying warships with various military use, but through the series, the cultural and political question of civil rights for this sentient species emerge.
