We show how topology optimization with a novel parameterization enables ultra-compact, robust, and broadband couplers for photonic wire bonds. A step toward fully exploiting 3D nanoprinting for photonics integration!! 💡🧪 Thanks to @cluster3dmm2o.bsky.social

Our work on a multi-objective inverse design approach for 3D nanoprinting was published (doi.org/10.1515/nano...)! We combine a Maxwell solver with heat diffusion to ensure performance and fabrication feasibility of 3D free-form photonic devices. Thanks to

We demonstrate multiphoton quantum interference in an ultracompact, topology-optimized tritter (8.0×4.5 µm²). We show that high-performance quantum photonic circuits can be small and scalable. Joint work of

🚀🔭 Detecting gravitational waves in an undergrad lab? Unfortunately, not yet. However, analogy experiments can be done so students can explore many involved phenomena. Our new experiment teaches how matched filtering uncovers weak signals—just like LIGO! [https://doi.org/10.1119/5.0219962]

Some impressions from a lovely trip to the outskirts of Potsdam!

It's always great to witness a successful graduation, and somewhat sad at the same time to see them leaving. All the best, Mitchell, for whatever comes in your future! Kudos to you, and thanks for all the time we shared.

The bunch of marvelous people working on theoretical and computational nanophotonics at KIT. Taken at our retreat last week. So proud of each of them. 💡

Group picture with the fantastic #Photonics students, with whom we had a seminar on scientific writing co-organized by @optica.bsky.social and @opticapubsgroup.bsky.social. Great to discuss with the students many issues around publishing an article from the perspective of an author and editor.💡

Autumn doesn't look that bad from a #Photonics perspective (and as long as you are inside 😆). Beautiful colors everywhere (in reality, maybe more impressive) 💡.

It was super nice to discuss Optics Letters issues, and many other things, with Miguel in Marseille.
